Year-Round Harvests and a Garden Retreat with the Sungrow 20

What do you grow in your greenhouse?
Hardy greens in the winter and tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower in the summer. During the spring transition period a quick planting of arugula, lettuce and kale. The brassica plants also get harvested in the early summer before the full heat of August kicks in. This last winter I was dealing with cancer, so was unable to cover the plants during really cold spells, and even then a handful of kale, spinach, and even lettuce survived.

How did this greenhouse change your growing season?
Absolutely love the 3 3/4 season food production. The sun is too low to support much plant growth mid December through early February. I also depend on the greenhouse to start all my seedlings for the outdoor garden. Using heat mats and a fluorescent fixture (which I remove mid March) I can get everything going at the necessary times. I even have a sitting area to rest!

How was your experience buying from Planta Greenhouses?
Everything went very smoothly. Because of my location, I was allowed/able to pick the pieces up at the shipping location in Westfield MA, which saved me the shipping costs.

What's your favourite thing about your Planta Greenhouse?
I simply love having it. It's a place to visit, poke around in most of the year. On sunny days, the little sitting area allows me to be "outside" much of the year, although it gets too hot in the summer.

What do you want to say to a person considering buying a Planta Greenhouse?
There is one raised bed, 3 1/2' wide running the length of the greenhouse. A gravel path (which has a variety of weeds now growing in it). I placed 1"x3" furring strips along the bottom of all the sides since there were small gaps between the side sheathing and the wooden base. Also I built tables for the seedling/potting areas, and created a slightly raised sitting area with the pallet that the greenhouse boxes came on (and plywood).

When did you install this greenhouse?
2023

Is this your first greenhouse?
Yes

Any other comments?
Since you asked for an honest review, I would like to add that the only issue is that the screws and some other metal pieces are rusting. Generally that's not a problem, but I foresee that if/when I need to replace the side panels the bottom bolts connecting the straps which hold them in place will need to be cut in order to take it apart.
