What year did you install this greenhouse? 2023.
What do you grow inside your greenhouse? The greenhouse allows us to grow in zone 4 March–November. In early March we use the greenhouse to grow out our seedlings as well as produce. In the spring we grow spinach, lettuces, radishes, carrots, turnips, kale, and cilantro. In the summer we grow tomatoes and peppers. In the fall we grow spinach, lettuces, radishes, kale, and cilantro.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience? The greenhouse had allowed us to start more seedlings in the spring as we are limited on seed starting space. The greenhouse has helped us grow the best pepper and tomato plants we have ever grown as our summers can be mild. It allows us to start our growing season in March and we are able to grow until November. We are located in Zone 4.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses? Yes, the buying process was very simple and straightforward.
What type of upgrades you've done? Tell us about your most innovative DIY solutions added to your greenhouse. When we received our greenhouse kit, we knew living in our environment we needed to build a strong base. We brought in dirt to build a dirt pad that was tamped down. We lined the bottom with wire netting so no critters could dig in and live there in the cold months. On top, we built a wood base drilled into the ground. We built two raised beds off of the wood base to fit the length of the greenhouse, then assembled the greenhouse on top. We laid concrete pavers down the two-foot walkway in the middle.
What's your favorite thing about your Planta Greenhouse? I love that it allows me to start my growing season in March. Typical for where we live is early May for outside. The greens we can grow during that early spring are amazing. My seedlings are so much healthier growing in the greenhouse. Plants literally explode growing in our Planta Greenhouse. We learn something new every year and get excited to be better the next!
