Superior Quality, Better Germination, and Excellent Support

What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
Before we had a Sungrow 20, we were starting our seeds in the garage on folding tables. It was a lot of extra work to move things around constantly, messy and the germination was poor. We decided we wanted a dedicated space for seedlings along with some plants that might benefit from a more controlled environment. We lost some of our young transfers to voles or birds and had to start over late in the season last year. With the greenhouse we figure we can get better germination, sprout more than we need, and that may help compensate for any pest damage. We had a small greenhouse in the past with panels that would easily blow out, so the Planta seemed like the way to go since the design looked to be very sturdy with everything strapped and bolted down.

What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
We considered Palram which we had owned previously, but we wanted something that would be sturdier and last longer. Planta seems to be in a category by itself when it comes to residential/hobby farm applications in that regard.

Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
We had been setting some money aside for a future greenhouse purchase and we would watch the sales on different Planta Sungrow models come and go. We had missed a better deal earlier in the year, but when we emailed a representative about it they were able to match the earlier deal and that helped to get us to put finally put that order in. We also had a couple questions during assembly, along with an issue with some shipping damage that had gone unnoticed for almost a year while the kit sat in my barn. Planta was able to promptly help us out in both instances, so we were glad we went with them.

What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
This will be our first season using the greenhouse and we are just finishing up constructing tables, shelves and one bed on the southern side. We plan to start all of the seeds for our garden in the greenhouse and we will use the bed most likely for peppers, peas and beans. We want to try lettuce because outside bugs tend to get at it, and we think the greenhouse would help with that, but we know it prefers cooler temperatures.

How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
We expect our first season using the Planta Sungrow to help us stay much more organized than when we had everything on folding tables in the garage. We have built shelves with square inch wire mesh fencing for tabletops which allow water and soil to pass through and be collected in the bottom. It should be a lot less messy getting things started. We also expect much better germination rates starting our seeds which will help us replace anything we might lose due to pests early on. We will also be testing out which plants will benefit the most from the warmer environment with less pest pressure. Most of what we grow is in outside in raised beds and it's all fenced in-but voles or beetles can still both be problems there.

What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses?
Buying from Planta was great and they answered questions we had promptly by email. The shipping went to a freight terminal which I drove down to pick up in my truck. Everything came on a single pallet about 7ft long to accommodate all those polycarbonate panels and they loaded it for me with a Hi Lo. I have a short 5'7" truck bed but with the tailgate down and some ratchet straps it was no problem to transport.

What's your favourite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
What I like most about the Planta Sungrow 20 is knowing that I will get many years of use out of it and that I will have parts and support if/when needed. It has already been through some storms with 60+ mph wind gusts and it's doing just fine. The annual cost of it if it lasts ten years or more in my mind is worth it.

What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
If someone else were on the fence about buying a Planta Greenhouse I'd say if you have already decided you want a greenhouse to take your gardening to the next level, then this is the one you want. The galvanized steel frame and design of this thing is going to last, so your per year cost of ownership is going to be worth it if you go with cheaper options that will need annual repair and maintenance like thin poly or stuff like that.
