What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
I've always wanted a greenhouse, and after a long time researching found Planta. The customer reviews, design, wind and load tolerance, plus the design and expandability appealed to me. Plus, I thought the price was attractive.
What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
I really don't recall all the names. I looked at what was available from Costco and the Home Depot, and those didn't appeal to me. I considered building my own but after comparing what that would cost vs. getting the kit from Planta Greenhouses, the latter was the most cost and time effective approach. Plus, I could reach out for help if I needed it.
Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
I think I just answered this. Planta had the design that I wanted, it was well reviewed by others, the cost was right, and also there was good support and warranty.
What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
Oh my, I grow a lot of things. For edibles, I grow several varieties of lettuce and spinach, radishes, beets, turnips, onions, pok choi, carrots, plus I have a couple of cucumbers and tomatoes. I have many pots of cucumbers and tomatoes ready for the outdoors when the weather warms. We have 13 hanging baskets with petunias that I started from seed, plus portulaca, lobelia, cosmos, coleus, zinnia and others. There are succulents and small potted shrubs of several varieties mostly wintered over.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
I'm able to grow well beyond the normal season. We can start eating fresh salads in March. I can start plants for outdoor transplanting in December and January. My growing season is essentially year-round with the beds I have built, even though here in the mountains of northeast Oregon we can get sub-zero spells. I do use a space heater and also have electric heat tape in one of my vegetable beds.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses? (was it easy to buy? How was customer service? etc)
The website made finding and buying the greenhouse extremely easy. Customer service was super responsive to my questions. This was about as easy as it could get.
What's your favourite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
I just love going out to the greenhouse during days when the weather is poor, feeling like I've been transported to another planet. It's warm, lush and relaxing. The smells from the herbs and flowers I grow make me feel like it's a pleasant spring day. It's also a great place to read a book during the winter!
What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
If you want a greenhouse, have even modest skills with simple hand tools, you shouldn't wait. Just do it, you won't regret it. I recommend Planta Greenhouses to all my family and friends who are considering building or buying a greenhouse.
Anything else you’d like to add?
The greenhouse has really enhanced my life. I've always enjoyed gardening and this has made it even more fun. Being in the greenhouse is so much better than trying to find other things to do from late fall through early spring. My wife says it's made me a happier person during that period of time. So if my wife's positive about its effect on me, who can argue with that?
