Winter Gardening Triumph in a High Desert Oasis

What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
We live in a high desert climate with hot dry summers, cold nights, and longer cold spring/winters. While we knew our greenhouse would be helpful in summer for growing warmer crops, it felt more of a gamble to us to grow through the winter. Nonetheless, we planted and seeded cold weather crops (lettuces, brassicas) in the early fall in hopes that we might overwinter without any additional heating and have early spring greens when it is still too cold to grow outside uncovered. It was a success! Once the days became longer, our greens really took off. We were pleasantly surprised to have plenty of greens in early winter, and it felt very easy with minimal watering (maybe every 2 weeks?). Just having the frost-free growing area is truly so beneficial for the plants.

What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
Maybe the occasional greenhouse from Costco, but this came up in our online search.

Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
We knew they can withstand our potentially very snowy winters.

What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
Tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, basil, peppers, arugula, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, oregano, seedlings, and starters while they need cover before it's warm, etc.

How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
So much! We were able to grow warm-weather crops (with overnight heating) that normally wouldn't do well with cold nights and overwintered lettuces and brassicas.

What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses?
Great! We did have some difficulty with written directions being incorrect and would have liked more direction to use the videos first.

What's your favorite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
The freedom that having a greenhouse allows for extending the seasons and growing crops otherwise unable in our climate. It has improved our confidence in home gardening.

What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
Go for it! Unless you're in a really hot climate, I think it has its benefits for everyone!
