What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
We wanted to learn to be more self-reliant for food. Our garden alone was not good enough. With the greenhouse, we have extended our growing season. This past winter we had salad greens and peppers all along. This spring we have gotten a jump on the growing season sprouting our non-GMO seeds, so we know that we have safe food to eat. We also have blackberries which would not grow well here without the greenhouse.
What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
We looked at just about every kit online as well as DIY plans. The problem I had was the polycarbonate covering price. For me at least, the Planta kit cost less than I would pay for the polycarbonate alone. I also liked the design for snow load, etc.
Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
Planta has the best deal for a well-reviewed product. Other deals out there had reviews showing that they were not worth it.
What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
Salad greens, blackberries, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, peppers in multiple varieties. We are still learning and adding to what we grow.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
We added a heater so we can grow 4 seasons now. We have a heavily treed lot so I oriented the greenhouse to get the most sun in the winter and the leaves on the trees provide shade in the summer to help with overheating.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses? (Was it easy to buy? How was customer service? etc)
For a product that comes on a pallet all the way from Canada, I found the process quite easy. I did have to break down the package to get it up my driveway and into the backyard, but one man with a hand truck can do it. Of course, you will be coordinating with the shipper.
What's your favourite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
Personally, the satisfaction of assembling it myself is one of my favorite things. Of course, my wife would say how it allows her to grow food all year.
What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
For the model I purchased, I would consider building a 2 or 3-foot-high knee wall to put it on. I have already told many that we could build it together in a few days. Don't think too long, just buy it so you can start using it.
Anything else you’d like to add?
If we move, we will be getting another Planta greenhouse for our new home. I believe that this one will add to resale value.
