What do you grow in your greenhouse?
Last spring/summer I grew tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, basil, strawberries, muskmelon and summer squash.
This winter I have arugula, swiss chard, collards, rosemary, parsley, carrots and a couple of onions growing. I just harvested some arugula and chard a few days ago.
I am looking forward to growing a spring and summer crop of vegetables, herbs, and lots of seedlings!
How did this greenhouse change your growing season?
I have used a hoop house for the last several years while I longed for a greenhouse! I am so happy with my greenhouse! It has extended my growing season even more! Unheated I would say 4-6 weeks in the spring and about that in the fall. I am considering using a propane heater in February and March to keep at about 40-45ºF overnight to be able to grow even sooner. Most of my greenhouse plants grow in the ground in raised beds. Today it is 19º outside and 32º in the unheated greenhouse at 11 am. e.s.t. on a fairly sunny morning.
How was your experience buying from Planta Greenhouses?
We had a very good experience with Planta Greenhouse customer service. We did contact them when we were installing and were very responsive in answering our questions!
What's your favourite thing about your Planta Greenhouse?
What's my favorite thing? That's hard to narrow down. In the end, it's knowing it can handle the gale-force winds and heavy lake-effect snow in our area with no problem! We recently had gusts over 65 miles per hour over a couple of days and then we got dumped on with over a foot of snow!
What do you want to say to a person considering buying a Planta Greenhouse?
I purchased the bell shaped greenhouse and am so happy I did. I would recommend this shape to anyone who has a lot of wind or snow or both.
