I Absolutely LOVE Gardening in My Greenhouse

The experience has been excellent from the very beginning. From tomatoes and cucumbers to peas, we’ve been able to grow an incredible amount thanks to the optimal conditions inside the greenhouse. The growth is rapid, the harvests are generous, and the growing season is significantly extended.

The purchase process was easy, and the staff at Planta were incredibly helpful. They answered all of our questions before we made the purchase and continued to be responsive and supportive during the assembly phase.

We added raised beds to make planting and maintenance easier, and one of our best decisions was including the automatic roof vents. They open and close on their own and do a fantastic job regulating the temperature inside.

I truly love everything about my Planta Greenhouse. Living at a higher elevation with plenty of snow and wind, durability was a top priority—and this structure delivers. It’s so well-made and performs exactly as advertised. I highly recommend Planta to anyone considering a greenhouse. Most days, you’ll find me happily gardening inside—my new favorite place to be.

    A Zone 3 Gardener’s Dream

It’s completely transformed our gardening experience. Inside, we grow tomatoes, peppers, ground cherries, and cucumbers. It’s been a whole new world for us—starting seeds, extending harvests, and seeing real results even into November. Normally, our growing season would be done by the first week of September, but not anymore.

Buying from Planta Greenhouses was amazing. The delivery was fast, and any time I needed help, they were there to support me. While I’m not doing anything fancy inside, I’ve added side shelves to help with starting seeds.

I love everything about this greenhouse. Living in Zone 3, I had never been able to grow cucumbers successfully, and I was always disappointed with my tomatoes. This year was different—I harvested so many huge tomatoes that I actually pressure canned them. I had more cucumbers and peppers than ever before, and I was amazed to see my ground cherry bush grow over four feet tall and produce an endless amount of fruit.

One of the best surprises has been how much I enjoy simply being in the greenhouse. When it’s -20°C outside, it’s +29°C inside. I’ve spent time in there lounging with a book and coffee, soaking up the warmth and getting a suntan in the middle of winter. Absolutely amazing. Every part of this experience has been my favorite!

Built to Withstand 50 mph Winds, Hail & 5 Feet of Snow

I installed my Sungrow 20 greenhouse in 2024, and although it’s not my first greenhouse, it’s been quite the journey. After my husband passed away, I had trouble finding help to put it together. The instructions felt overwhelming, and I wish there was a setup crew or at least a simplified version—maybe a "for dummies" guide. Eventually, I found someone to help me assemble it, and we finished just before the snow hit.

Right now, the greenhouse holds a few hanging baskets, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and tomato starts, along with other seedlings I prepped for the planting season. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get inside recently because the snow just keeps coming. Still, I managed to water everything before the first snowfall and I’m hopeful some of it survived our brutal -26°F temperatures and 5 feet of snow.

Despite the weather, the greenhouse has already proven to be incredibly sturdy, standing up to 50 mph winds and hail without issue. I've also added raised beds, which I plan to fill with carrots, beets, and other veggies as soon as the weather improves. I'm especially looking forward to finally growing crops without worrying about deer, elk, or antelope eating them.

Buying from Planta was simple and the customer service was excellent. I didn’t manage to install the extra window because we couldn’t figure it out, but overall, I’m impressed with the structure. I can't wait to see what survived the snow and start growing again when spring finally arrives.

Our cucumbers and tomatoes went crazy!

It’s been a game changer for our gardening experience since 2023. Living in an area with a very short growing season, having a greenhouse has allowed us to grow more—and longer. This year, our cucumbers and tomatoes went absolutely crazy! We've also been growing lettuce, cabbage, herbs, and strawberries with great success.

We purchased the greenhouse online without needing customer service, and the process was smooth. My husband built custom raised beds inside and added a potting table, irrigation system, and drip line, which has made maintenance much easier. It’s been amazing to grow food that’s protected from deer and high winds—and with added shade, we can also shield our crops from extreme heat.

One note: due to our high winds, the side gasket did blow off, and we’ve noticed the metal straps shift with temperature changes, occasionally creating gaps. Still, we’re very happy with our setup and how much more we can grow now!

FAQ

Residential Greenhouses

Are there doors on both ends of the greenhouse?

Yes! All of our Sungrow models come with manual doors and a manual window above the door on both ends of the greenhouse.

Do you have lean-to greenhouses?

Unfortunately, we do not have any lean-to greenhouses available at this time.

Do you make custom size greenhouses?

All of our products come pre-packaged by the manufacturer and can only be customized in length (6.5' extension). However, the height of the greenhouse can also be increased if placed on a base (up to 5ft above the ground)

How is the greenhouse anchored to the ground?

Every greenhouse kit comes with optional legs that can be dug directly into the ground. The amount of legs included depends on the greenhouse size.

What is the frame made of?

The greenhouse frame is made out of heavy-duty galvanized steel.

What polycarbonate panels are used for residential greenhouses?

We use 6mm heavy-duty, double-walled polycarbonate panels with a UV-protected outside layer for our Residential Greenhouses.

What type of base/foundation is the best for me?

There are several different types of greenhouse bases, information, and pictures posted by our customers on our Customer Stories page and our Planta Facebook page. Additionally, you can learn more about "Types of Greenhouse Bases - With Pros & Cons of Each" on our blog.

Roof Ventilation Windows

Can I add windows for my greenhouse later?

Roof ventilation windows work as an add-on and can be installed only once the greenhouse installation is complete. Windows can be added later as well.

How do the Automatic Ventilation Windows work?

Our Automatic Ventilation Windows do not require any batteries or electricity. A heat-activated mechanism will open/close the window once a certain temperature is reached.

How many roof ventilation windows are recommended for the greenhouse?

It is strongly recommended to go with an even amount of roof ventilation windows. This is so you can place at least one on either side of the greenhouse. The amount of windows required depends on the greenhouse size, the climate you are in, and the types of plants that will be grown inside the greenhouse.

What are the opening and maximum opening temperatures for the Automatic Windows?

The opening temperature is between 17 °C and 25°C (62.6°F to 77°F), while the maximum opening is at 30 °C (86°F).

Can I get a longer greenhouse?

Most of our residential and commercial greenhouses are extendable up to 100ft. Learn more about our extension kits for both the Sungrow and Sigma models.

How can I customize my greenhouse?

The customization possibilities are truly endless with a Planta Greenhouse. To help you get started, take a look through “16 Ways to Supercharge Your Greenhouse” on our blog.

Is hanging plants, heaters, and hammocks safe from my greenhouse frame? How much weight does it handle without affecting the guarantee?

It is safe to hang plants and accessories on a Sungrow greenhouse since each internal reinforcement arch can withstand up to 100 lbs/45.3 Kg. On the Sigma series, you can pre-drill the holes on the framing and hang small things. We would not suggest hanging anything heavier than 5 – 10 lbs / 2.2 – 4.5 Kg per arch.

May I heat my greenhouse with fire pits or similar?

You can use any heating source inside, like electricity, gas, propane, and even wood. It may be tricky to heat with wood, as you want to ensure that you keep the stove/pit away from the panels to prevent them from melting or burning if they are too close to the fire source. In this case, the customers ideally would want to come up with an exhaust system, making sure it’s not in contact with the panels, for being a flammable material.
