What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
Prior to living in Central Oregon, I lived in an area where I could garden in-ground with no need for seedlings, in zone 5. However, after moving to a pine forested area, I found the soil challenging and the local wildlife, including rabbits, deer, squirrels, and birds, made gardening frustrating. I decided to invest in a greenhouse to grow year-round. Planta's greenhouse seemed secure against animals and able to withstand our snow, hail, and wind storms.
What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
I looked at options from big box stores, Amazon, and considered building one myself. However, I was put off by reviews of failures due to high winds or snow loads. Building one myself would have been expensive and smaller than needed.
Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
I liked the idea of a kit with all components boxed together. The roof line design seemed suitable for our area and would help with snow management. The option to add auto-venting roof panels was a huge plus.
What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
This will be our first year, but we plan to grow peas, beans, cucumbers, squashes, tomatoes, peppers, onions, potatoes, lettuces, spinach, carrots, parsnips, and hopefully honeydew and cantaloupe. I'm excited to try rotational planting and extend our growing season into winter.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
We are preparing for our first year of growing, but I look forward to growing in a stable environment without the risk of hail storms or wildlife damaging our crops.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses? (was it easy to buy? How was customer service? etc)
The order process was simple, and we received proper communication regarding order and tracking updates. We did not encounter any issues from order to delivery.
What's your favorite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
I love the look and versatility of the greenhouse. I can use the space for shelves, hanging baskets, raised beds, or in-ground planting, making it a nice space to be in.
What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
We recommend watching the assembly videos and considering a slightly larger size than you think you'll need. The instructions can be complex, but the Planta team's support was invaluable and reduced confusion and stress. Additionally, ensure you have heavy-duty tape on hand for assembly, as the provided tape may not withstand the weight of the metal parts.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Overall, we are happy with our greenhouse. The packaging of parts was well done, but the tape and gaskets could be improved to withstand the weight and compression of the metal parts during shipping.
