What year did you install this greenhouse?: On the farm

What do you grow inside your greenhouse?: Greens of all varieties, tomatoes, herbs, onion, leek, shallot starts, flowers, cabbage, collards, other brassicas, etc. Everything! We are market gardeners.

How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?: The greenhouse has allowed us to get a head start on the growing season in North Hastings. It helps us get crops to market sooner and provides better control over start-up conditions. Installing it on a six-inch concrete slab with thermal mass has been very helpful. Last year was our first with the Sungrow, and it made a massive difference. It's also a fantastic place to hang out on sunny winter days.

What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses?: The purchase was simple, and customer service throughout the build process was exceptional. All in all, it was a great experience.

What type of upgrades have you done? Tell us about your most innovative DIY solutions added to your greenhouse.: I added a concrete slab for thermal mass and rodent protection, a wood-burning stove with an insulated stainless steel chimney, and shelving using the existing bell arch structure to maximize growing space. I also added a trellis section made from deer fence, ideal for cucumbers.

What’s your favorite thing about your Planta Greenhouse?: After a long winter, the look, feel, and smell of the plants coming on is wonderful.
