A Warm Escape in Our Backyard

Is this your first greenhouse? YES
What year did you install this greenhouse? 2023
What do you grow inside your greenhouse? Late Winter to Mid Spring: kale, spinach, bok choy, radishes, lettuce, peas, strawberries and cool hardy flowering starts; Mid Spring to Early Fall: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, tomatillos; Winter: overwinter potted herbs.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience? In addition to providing a longer growing season, it provides a respite from winter – I can sit in my chair and enjoy a 65-degree afternoon on a sunny but 30-degree winter day.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses? Both order and delivery went very smoothly. At one point, the mechanism in one of our automatic windows was not working, and Planta quickly replaced it.
What type of upgrades you've done? Tell us about your most innovative DIY solutions added to your greenhouse. The site for the greenhouse is on a slight incline. We used this to our advantage by building a level masonry foundation, and then building in raised beds. The other thing we did was to place the raised beds so that they are one continuous bed starting on the south (long) side, turning around on the west (short) side and then coming up the middle, so that our tallest plants (tomatoes and tomatillos) can be trellised and make use of the height along the middle.
What's your favorite thing about your Planta Greenhouse? We bought the greenhouse to celebrate a big birthday. We had been thinking about going for a trip to warmer climate for a week, but decided on the greenhouse which is like bringing a small patch of a warmer climate to our backyard.
