Growing Abundant Harvests in the Pacific Northwest with the Sungrow Urban

What do you grow in your greenhouse?
We finished the greenhouse last year in May just as it was time to put my seedlings from the house in the garden.

We decided to try growing tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, peppers and flowers in pots in the greenhouse since we had this beautiful finished empty greenhouse.

How did this greenhouse change your growing season?
Everything we planted, grew and produced amazingly. Here in the Pacific Northwest it is impossible with our short cooler season to grow tomatoes and cucumbers and get plants that are 6-8' tall, producing abundantly.

We tried planting some cool weather plants(lettuce, spinach, bok choy). in March, in the greenhouse in the pots our tomatoes will go in later.

They are doing great and will plant more next year for early harvest before the main crops.

How was your experience buying from Planta Greenhouses?
It was great dealing with customer service for the few questions we had about picking up the greenhouse at the drop off place and some construction information.

What's your favourite thing about your Planta Greenhouse?
Besides growing so much food we couldn't grow before, I love having all the mess of making soil blocks, potting plants and starting them in one place other than in the house. Its great to know it will hold up to winds and snow and will last for many years to come.

We enjoy relaxing with a cup of coffee, looking at the beautiful plants and flowers!

What do you want to say to a person considering buying a Planta Greenhouse?
We put pea gravel down for heat collection (in cool seasons) and also we water it for humidity and to cool the greenhouse down in the hot summer. My husband built a work table and also a table for growing seedlings. He put a lattice top on the seedling table that will be unscrewed and taken off when the seedlings go outside and then we will grow our tomatoes in the pots again!

We added a heater with a thermostat for our cold spring nights, which can also be used just as a fan in the summer. We put in an exhaust fan set to come on automatically when it gets too hot. We added metal shelving with chains to hang our grow lights for our many cloudy days in the spring, and also to use as extra shelving for our seedlings.

I love that we found a used utility sink which we hooked up to our outside hydrant with drip tubing into the greenhouse. It is very nice to have water in the greenhouse.

When did you install this greenhouse?
2025

Is this your first greenhouse?
Yes

Any other comments?
I would definitely recommend Planta Greenhouses. I have wanted a greenhouse for many many years of gardening and so glad we chose Planta! Even though I didn't quite know how to plant in a greenhouse, after just one season we are benefiting greatly by ours.

If you get one you won't be disappointed!
