I love our greenhouse and have already harvested lettuce, basil and chard!

Last year we put up a cheap greenhouse that was flattened by winds a week after it was up, so we did some research and found Planta greenhouses.

They looked like they would survive the very harsh conditions we get in Northern New Mexico, so we decided to give it a try. Ours is 10' x 20' Sungrow. My only helper to assemble the greenhouse was my husband but as he has a real job, I (a 67year old woman) did the majority of it.

Our property slopes so we first built concrete footings so that we could level the greenhouse. By the time we got it built it was only days away from when we were leaving on a 3 week trip.

I planted the plants and set up irrigation. I also covered the greenhouse with shade cloth for those few weeks as it was really hot and sunny. Thanks to our wood base, it was easy to attach the shade cloth with bungee cords. We crossed our fingers and left on our 3 week trip.

While we were away, a neighbor’s garden was destroyed by high winds and after we returned there was an intense hail storm! As you can see, all was well in our greenhouse. The plants are thriving! I love our greenhouse and have already harvested lettuce, basil and chard!
