Flexibility for an urban gardener
What made you get a Planta Greenhouse?
I tried other cheaper plastic wrapped Greenhouses which collapsed under a snow load. I then saw an advertisement for Planta and made the decision to purchase the Sungrow 20. I wasn't sure at the time what I was getting into but am delighted at how it turned out. This is a gardener game changer here in Saskatchewan as it allows me to extend my growing season by several months.
What competitors did you consider before purchasing from Planta Greenhouses?
Generic box store brands like Palram. I tried 3 others which ended in catastrophic failure with our Saskatchewan winters. The Planta seemed to check all the boxes I was looking for in a greenhouse. I can't speak to the Palram as it was NOT one I trialed so have no opinion on their product one way or the other. It seemed to me that the specs on the Sungrow were superior to the specs on all other contenders.
Why did you choose to buy from Planta Greenhouses?
My due diligence on seeking out the best quality and bang for the Buck brought me back to the Planta line every time. I waited for over 2 years before I pulled the trigger but in hindsight, I should have acted much sooner.
What do you grow inside your greenhouse?
I specialize in over a dozen varieties of Peppers which love the heat these Greenhouses provide. I also grow a variety of herbs and root vegetables.
How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience?
Well, I have yet to complete the interior fully however last years production maximized my yield and allowed me to automate my watering protocol. I also found it enjoyable working inside on a windy day.
What was your experience like buying from Planta Greenhouses?
I would rate my personal experience with the Planta staff as 9/10. Other than a few minor issues, my overall experience exceeded my expectations.
What's your favourite thing about the Planta Greenhouse?
Flexibility for an urban gardener. I no longer have to do the transplanting inside my house as seed planting starts in early February when the temperature outside is in the negative. It also allows me to move the later stage transplanting into the greenhouse in late March or early April. This still requires some heat at night but even in minus outside temperatures, on a sunny day the inside of the greenhouse is toasty warm. (in excess of 80 degrees F) This gives me almost 2 months head start on the current May long weekend planting. I also have peace of mind knowing I can mitigate an early or late frost.
What would you say to a person considering purchasing a Planta Greenhouse?
If you have a green thumb and love garden fresh vegetables, this is a no brainer decision.
Anything else you’d like to add?
It took a lot of work to build and plan however I am delighted with this quality product and will enjoy this Greenhouse for many years. It has already paid dividends in production, flexibility and an extended growing season. The inside is not fully complete but will be done this summer.
