What do you grow inside your greenhouse? The use of my greenhouse is never static; it changes with the seasons. In winter, it becomes my sanctuary—my escape from technology, a place to recharge, get creative, and soak up the much-needed sun and heat. I also overwinter a few plants and use a modular garden bed to prepare compost for spring. In spring, I get a head start on seeds like kale, broccoli, radishes, onions, amaranth, anise hyssop, and annual flowers like marigolds, daisies, and zinnias. In summer, I dehydrate herbs like lemon thyme, peppermint, and anise. I even tried using it as a sauna, but it gets too hot! In fall, I bring in plants to extend their growing season and prepare my compost for winter. Every season, my greenhouse serves a different purpose, and I cherish every sunny winter day spent inside.

How did your Planta Greenhouse improve your gardening experience? It has extended my growing season, given me a place to start my seeds in spring, and provided a space to transplant my indoor plants. It also helps me dehydrate herbs in summer, extends my garden in fall, and serves as a warm retreat in winter. It has become an essential part of my home, a space I use all year round.

What type of upgrades have you done? Tell us about your most innovative DIY solutions added to your greenhouse. Last year, I added a modular garden bed and used the principles of Hügelkultur to fill it. I also use it for composting in winter.

What's your favorite thing about your Planta Greenhouse? Everything!!! But if I had to choose one, it’s the feeling of stepping inside on a sunny winter day, with snow all around and freezing temperatures outside, and being wrapped in a deep, bone-warming heat. It’s so bright and soothing—it truly is priceless!
