  2. A sturdy work table 
  3. Sorting containers (for all those tiny screws and nuts)
  4. Rechargeable electric impact driver and drill 
  5. Several #2 Phillips bits (they have a habit of disappearing when you need them most)
  6. 8mm or 5/16" nut driver for your impact driver
  7. Hand-held nut driver and Phillips screwdrivers 
  8. 3/16" drill bit (essential for working with those polycarbonate panels)
  9. Utility knife with plenty of sharp blades 

Helpful Sidekicks: Tools That Make Life Easier

While not essential, these tools can save you time, frustration, and possibly a few choice words:

  • Combination wrenches (8mm and 10mm – perfect for those hard-to-reach spots)

  • Foundation Matters: Steve built his on 6x6 timbers, using tools like a Skil saw, Sawzall, 4-foot level, string line, and carpenter's square.
  • Measure Twice, Cut Once: Pay extra attention when scoring and folding the central roof panel. This cut needs to be dead center and perfectly square – your greenhouse's waterproof integrity depends on it!
  • Tape is Your Friend: The clear Gorilla tape might seem like overkill, but trust us (and Steve) – it's worth it. The tape that comes with the kit often falls short, so stock up and save yourself some headaches.
  • Nut Driver Know-How: There are two types of nut drivers. You need one that's like a conventional socket, deep enough to hold a nut with space for screw threads to pass through. This is crucial for tightening nuts without stripping screws.
  • Window Wisdom: If installing roof windows (2021 or 2024 models), you'll need a 7mm combination wrench for some M4 nuts. It's worth having on hand for other tasks, too.
