Buying a greenhouse: what to settle first
A greenhouse is a long-term purchase, and the right model depends on your space, your winters and how much you want to grow. These guides answer the questions most buyers ask before they order. If you only read one, start with the Greenhouse buyer's guide: 9 essential considerations.
Pick the right size
Measure the spot you have in mind and plan for the garden you want in a few seasons, not just this spring. What greenhouse size do I need? helps you work it out. Planta backyard greenhouses are 10 ft wide and 6.5 to 39 ft long, and many models can be lengthened later with an extension kit.
Match the snow and wind rating to your climate
The snow load rating tells you how much weight the roof can carry. Sungrow models are rated to 75 psf (360 kg/m²), Sigma Gen III to 55 psf and Sigma Gen II to 32 psf, and all of them are wind-rated to 65 mph when properly anchored. Compare frames and panels
